Then we were able to go up in a viewing area so we could see everything. As a spectator, it was really nice! We were welcome to share every step of the procedure, from the class to the helmet and earphones. You are fully versed on what will happen and what will NOT happen. They keep total control until you are in the car and even then, you are in constant voice contact with your guide for the 8 minutes. I think it would be best if you let the driver know that he/she will be driving! All went well, but I think that was largely due to the team that surrounds you. This was a huge surprise for him and he had zero time to prepare for this experience. It was a bit confusing for me with all the instructions, but I wasn't driving so I didn't ask any questions. My daughter and I were allowed to come in and listen. They have a 1 hour class to give you the safety briefing and a video to watch.

No, I didn't do the driving, but I wanted to share with any of you that might be considering this attraction. 8 minutes behind the wheel of an Indy 500 Car. It was 5 minutes (which we upgraded to 8 minutes) of the Mario Andretti Experience. Wow! Our adult kids got this for my husband's 60th birthday.
